Police Foil Bandits Attack, Rescue 30 Kidnap Victims In Katsina

The Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, in a statement said the operation took place in the early hours of Wednesday, March 12, 2025, after police received a distress call at about 1a.m. reporting an attack on Unguwar Sarkin Fulani Dutsen Dadi, a village near Tafoki in Faskari LGA.

He said the suspected bandits, armed with dangerous weapons, stormed the village, abducting 30 residents and rustling two cows, 92 sheep, and goats.

In a swift response, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Faskari mobilised an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) patrol team to the scene.

Adding that the police team engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, forcing the assailants to flee with gunshot wounds, resulting in rescuing 30 kidnapped victims unharmed, and the rustled animals successfully recovered.

Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa commended the officers for their bravery and professionalism during the rescue mission.

He further reassured the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to combating crime and restoring peace in the state.

He added that efforts were ongoing to track and apprehend the fleeing suspects, while urging residents of the state to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and accurate information.
