Ghanaians on social media have taken aim at the Super Eagles, particularly striker Victor Osimhen, following Nigeria’s 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe in a pivotal World Cup qualifying match at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.......CONTINUE READING THE ARTICLE FROM THE SOURCE>>>>>

Viral videos circulating on social media show a visibly distraught Osimhen expressing frustration at his teammates after the disappointing result, which jeopardizes the Super Eagles’ chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

The Galatasaray forward opened the scoring midway through the second half, breaking through Zimbabwe’s resilient defense. However, Nigeria failed to hold onto the lead and secure their third win of the campaign. Zimbabwe’s substitute Tawanda Chirewa delivered a late equalizer, shattering Nigerian hopes and leaving fans disheartened.

The draw further widens South Africa’s lead at the top of Group C to six points, following their 2-0 victory over Benin.

With four matches remaining, the Super Eagles face an uphill battle to secure automatic qualification for next summer’s World Cup. Despite the setback, they still have a shot at clinching a play-off spot.

Reacting to the game, newly appointed Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle expressed his disappointment: “I am so disappointed for my players and for the country because we couldn’t get the win against Zimbabwe. I don’t know the result of the other game, but I know we still have a chance as the second-best team.”

The Super Eagles’ World Cup qualifying journey will resume in September with a crucial double-header against Rwanda and South Africa, which could define their campaign.

See how some Ghanaians reacted

Kofi Babone wrote: “Why is he crying? It’s not like they’re even going to perform well if they qualify for the World Cup, or that their people will even have electricity to watch the matches. He should be happy that a more serious country will be going to the World Cup.”

Felix Sena offered words of encouragement, stating: “Nigerians shouldn’t give up. We will represent them in the USA, just as they will represent us at AFCON.”

Nene Buenor was more critical, arguing that the player in question is being overhyped: “They should stop treating this guy like he’s too special to their team. He’s the reason they may never make the World Cup finals. He’s too full of himself. Imagine the number of opportunities he could have taken advantage of. You’re here acting as if you’re the saint of the team. As a real team player, you must always have this at the back of your head: ‘You win together, you lose together.’”

Mahani Soale Fuseini jokingly suggested: “He can come to Ghana on loan for the World Cup.”

Similarly, I Am Nana Ford added: “They should loan him to us for the World Cup.”

Shashi Ibrahim had a different take, advising the player to move on: “Why are you crying? Come to Arsenal and enjoy your day. Forget Nigeria—good things are always difficult.”

The reactions reflect a mix of disappointment, humor, and rivalry, as Nigerians and football fans across Africa process the team’s failure to secure a World Cup spot.
