It’s incredible that every member of this species commits suicide after separating from their mate. It is typical for the surviving companion to die soon after the first, whether through natural calamities or attacks by animals. Dik-diks frequently kill themselves after losing a loved one because of the excruciating agony they go through and the social isolation that follows.
