Position Details
The Deputy Security Adviser will be based in Abuja, a designated “B” hardship and family duty station by the International Civil Service Commission. As part of the UNDSS team, the successful candidate will help ensure the safe and effective delivery of UN programmes, particularly in challenging environments.
Key Responsibilities
The Deputy Security Adviser’s responsibilities include:
1. Security Management – Oversee and coordinate security measures for UN staff and operations.
2. Risk Management – Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
3. Security Planning and Documentation – Develop comprehensive security plans and protocols.
4. Collaboration and Advice – Work closely with stakeholders to address security needs.
5. Project and Crisis Management – Manage security-related projects and respond to emergencies.
6. Budgeting and Resources – Oversee resource allocation and mobilization.
7. Training and Human Resources – Lead security training and manage personnel.

Qualifications
To be eligible for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
– Experience: At least 7 years of progressive experience in security, international relations, conflict resolution, or similar fields.
– Field Operations: A minimum of 1 year of field experience is preferred.
– Skills: Proficiency in analytics, business intelligence, and information management is an advantage.
