Some Super Eagles stars had threatened to stay away from these qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda if they were not paid some of their outstanding bonuses and allowances, some of which date as far back as 2021.

The authorities believe the payment of this money will bring down the tension between them and the team over money.

SCORENigeria further gathered that each player to the delayed 2023 AFCON received $30,000.

The NFF were paid $4 Million by CAF after the Super Eagles reached the AFCON final in February.

Hosts and eventual winners Cote d’Ivoire got $7 Million.

The football federation is also expected to now begin to clear the other bonuses and allowances owed the team.

It would be recalled that in January 2024 President Bola Tinubu approved 12 Billion Naira, which was later increased to 17 Billion Naira, to offset outstanding bonuses and allowances owed the Super Eagles and various other national teams.
