Fayose, who was elected twice as governor on the platform of PDP said this in an interview with Channels Television on Sunday.

He said the PDP which was the ruling party at the federal level and was in control of most of the 36 States in Nigeria from 1999 to 2015 was now a shadow of its for self as a result of the crisis in its ranks.

Fayose also noted that the 2023 candidate of Labour Party, LP is now a more prominent and recognized figure as the opposition leader in the country

According to the former Ekiti governor, the structures that once made PDP a great party has collapsed.

Thus, Fayose noted that while the APC can be defeated, PDP as a platform is now virtually non-existent.

”As I always say we can defeat the APC but when we don’t have a party again, how can we defeat them,” he said

”When we complain about the APC and we don’t have a party and you can say you will do this and that, but when Obi is the voice of the opposition now. The press will call Obi than call the PDP and when the Publicity Secretary is suspending people and vice-versa, so where is the party?”

The former governor also advised the 2023 presidential candidate of PDP Atiku Abubakar to drop his ambition to contest again in 2027.

He said at over 80, the former Vice President will be too old to contest for the presidency in 2027.

”I am sure at this stage with all due respect to him, he would rather want to stay away from politics of contesting elections again.

”By the time Asiwaju(Bola Tinubu) will finish, Atiku Abubakar will probably be 80 or 81 so what will be the attraction?

”We should leave the stage when the ovation is loudest, I respect him and I think Nigerians are craving for a younger generation than ever before so on what basis will Atiku come and contest again,” he said.

Atiku had in a recent interview with the Hausa Service of Voice of America indicated that he may contest the presidency again in 2027.

The former Vice President has been part of presidential contest in the country either as a candidate or aspirant since 2007.

He came second in the 2023 presidential election won by the incumbent president who was the candidate of APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
