Ajayi lamented that the ruling party had destroyed Nigeria and caused unprecedented level of hunger in the country.

The PDP candidate spoke on Tuesday while on campaign tour of Iju, Ita-Ogbolu and other communities in Akure North Local Government Area of the state.

He expressed concern about what he described as the backwardness of the state and promised to make the situation better if elected governor in the forthcoming poll.

“If I get to power, we will formulate policies to develop the state, and within 10 months, we will change things for the better. We know how to run the government. We won’t be wasting time before we kick start our programmes.

“APC has destroyed the country. They have caused hunger. So, let us vote for PDP. I will ensure free and affordable education. We will employ more teachers,” he said.

Ajayi declared that he did not need the huge amount of money being collected monthly as security vote by the incumbent state governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to effectively fight the scourge of insecurity in the state.

The PDP flag bearer, who is a former deputy governor of the state, pledged to strengthen the state security outfit codename Amotekun to end kidnapping and other criminal activities in the rural areas.

He said: “We are going to strengthen the Amotekun. We will create forest guards that will work together with Amotekun Corps in all the forests across the state. I was one of those who created Amotekun. So, we have ways to reshape it.

“We will end kidnapping. Our farmers will go to farms with peace of mind. We will empower the farmers so that there will be sufficient food across the state.

“Governor Aiyedatiwa is collecting N1.2billion security votes monthly. I don’t need that much money for security. I will take about N600millon from it to create employment. If there are employments for the youths, crimes would be reduced drastically.”

The Director-General of the PDP Campaign Organisation, Clement Faboyede, urged the people of the state to go and collect their Permanent Voters Cards so that they could vote during the election.

“Please go and get your PVCs to enable you to vote to chase the APC out of power. This is the only power you have to send them away. We know how hard the country has turned to under the APC government.

“The only way to send them away is to go out on November 16 to vote for the PDP. Make sure you protect your votes. Don’t allow them to steal your votes,” Faboyede said.
