Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Reappointed as WTO Director-General for Second Term

Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has been reappointed as the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), securing her second four-year term.

The WTO confirmed that Okonjo-Iweala was the only candidate for the position, and she expressed her willingness to continue on September 16.

According to a statement by the WTO, the organization had opened the nomination process for the director-general position on October 8, with the deadline closing on November 8. Petter Olberg, the WTO’s General Council chairman, informed member countries that no additional nominations were submitted by the deadline.
