The governor made the commendation on Friday when he received the Chairman of the Commission, Lawal Ismail-Yakawada, and other officials who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.

He noted that the creation of the commission would significantly enhance infrastructural and agricultural development across the North-West, particularly in Kebbi State. He pledged the full support of his administration towards ensuring the commission’s success in fulfilling its mandate.

“We are fully ready to support the North-West Development Commission in all ramifications. I am the happiest person today because I am confident the commission will reach all critical areas of need across the region”, the governor stated.

As a demonstration of support, Idris announced the donation of two Hilux vehicles to facilitate the commission’s operations in Kebbi.

Highlighting the agricultural potential of the state, Idris called for increased collaboration with both governmental and non-governmental bodies to further drive development.

In his remarks, NWDC Chairman Ismail-Yakawada emphasised that the commission’s visit was to seek the governor’s blessing and forge a strong partnership with the Kebbi State Government. He acknowledged the state’s central role in the commission’s agenda and praised its contributions to national food security.

“Kebbi has become the food basket of the nation due to its immense agricultural resources,” he noted. “We are proud to partner with you to unlock more opportunities in this sector.”

The NWDC chairman also lauded Idris for his transformational leadership, citing visible developmental projects across the state such as road construction, streetlights, a modern motor park, and an ultramodern secretariat.
