The campaign materials, seen at key locations like the Gyadi-Gyadi/Zoo Road flyover, Kofar Nasarawa, and State Road, bore the message, “Team New Nigeria 2027; The Goodluck Nigeria Needs—Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.”

The appearance of these posters has heightened discussions about the upcoming presidential race, which is anticipated to include prominent contenders such as Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, and the current president.

Okechukwu Eze, Jonathan’s spokesperson, has not yet issued a statement regarding the posters.

This development calls back to a similar scenario before the 2023 elections, when Jonathan’s supporters bought nomination forms for him under the All Progressives Congress, an endeavor he later disavowed.

The latest round of posters is reportedly the work of Team New Nigeria, a political group promoting its cause nationwide.

Modibbo Farakwai, leader of TNN, explained that the push for Jonathan’s campaign is a response to the public’s desire for transformative leadership.

“Nigerians are yearning for change and for new party faces to drive that change. They want a transformation in the culture and efficacy of governance at all levels,” Farakwai stated.

TNN has also established a harmonization committee in Kano State and is preparing to register as an official political party with the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The organization claims to have mobilized 26,382,000 registered voters across Nigeria and has created foundational structures, such as a party flag, logo, constitution, and manifesto.

Tanko Yakasai, a founding member of the Arewa Consultative Forum, expressed his view when asked for comment, stating that Jonathan, like any eligible Nigerian, has the right to run for president.

“Jonathan did not complete his second mandate, as he lost the race to former president Muhammadu Buhari. This is another opportunity for him to complete his tenure,” Yakasai added.
