Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, a governorship hopeful in the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, has stated that he remains the best candidate to dislodge incumbent Biodun Oyebanji from office.

In a statement issued by his media office in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, Otunba Fayose stated that he is confident he will win the poll despite his elder brother’s support for Oyebanji.
“I am using this medium to appeal to members of the PDP in our dear state to remain resolute in their quest to wrest the state from the control of the rudderless APC regime.
“Unfortunately, despite the vast and numerous resources available to Ekiti State, it is still an underachiever in all parameters.
“It is common knowledge to indigenes and non-indigenes alike that apart from the human resources available to Ekiti State, the Oyebanji-led government has been unable to tap it instead.
“It (current government) has been using the same resources to patronise the state’s political elites to the detriment of the vast hard-working majority who are reeling in misery and want,” he said.
Expressing confidence, Otunba Fayose stated, “From all indications, the people of Ekiti State who are yearning for good governance are already fed and are waiting for the PDP to rescue them.
“They have, however, expressed their preference not for our party but also the candidature of Otunba Emmanuel Fayose to lead the onslaught.”
According to Otunba Fayose, all manners of the governor’s endorsement by the elites in Ekiti State, particularly from the former governor Ayodele Fayose, will amount to nothing come 2026.
“I can state unequivocally that the people and not the elites will determine the next governorship election. Unfortunately, we have the masses but Oyebanji has the elites he patronises.
“Our state is blessed with eminent personalities, professors, and legal luminaries who have brought pride to Ekiti people and the country.
“What will eventually play out will be that the state’s people will revolt at the ballot against bad governance. Unfortunately, people like the former governor Ayodele will not be able to save Oyebanji and his crew, who will be roundly defeated in their various polling booths,” Otunba Fayose said.
