For some people, the danger is so great that they never wake up. A Greek proverb says that “death and sleep are connected.” Do you know that while you sleep, your brain keeps controlling things in your body, like dreaming?

Here are a few ways that people die because of sleep.

(1) Sudden cardiac death(cardiac arrest)

Researchers have found that sudden cardiac arrest can happen when the sinoatrial node, which is your body’s natural peacemaker, is damaged.

In other words, the problem happens when the heart’s electrical circuitry goes wrong, which could be fatal within the first two minutes.

Why, exactly, does it kill? Basically, it slows down the flow of blood to the brain. Cardiac arrest can happen without warning 50% of the time, and it can also happen when you’re sleeping.

2.Getting sick from carbon monoxide( respiratory arrest)

Carbon monoxide, which is sometimes written as CO, is an odorless, colorless gas that can kill you if you take in enough of it.

CO can be released into the air by gas ranges, gas stoves, furnaces, fireplaces, and other appliances.

Why, exactly, does it kill? Basically, it can be dangerous to breathe in if a small amount of it builds up in a short space. The person might feel weak, lightheaded, and have headaches. If you get lost while you’re sleeping, it could kill you.

3. Apnea

If a person has central sleep apnea, their breathing stops and starts many times while they sleep. It happens when the brain sends the wrong message to the muscles that control breathing while you are asleep. Most experts agree that the brain stem is to blame.

What brings about death? When you have apnea, your level of oxygen drops below what you need to stay alive. Because of this, there isn’t enough oxygen, which is called hypoxia.

4. Stroke

Importantly, the heart may affect other systems that rely on its ability to circulate blood. Most notably, an irregular heart rhythm may lead to a clot that travels to the brain and causes a stroke. High blood pressure, or hypertension, may increase the risk.

If a stroke impacts the brain stem, breathing, eye-opening, muscle control, and consciousness may be compromised. These strokes may be fatal and can occur in sleep.

5. Choking

It is also possible to choke to death while sleeping. This can occur if a person vomits during a nighttime seizure or after too much alcohol.

It can also happen if you fall asleep with food or a throat lozenge in your mouth and accidentally inhale it.
