Awogu was the national chairman of Soludo Solidarity Movement, a group that mobilised people for Soludo but later fell apart with him when he became the Governor after Soludo allegedly worked against him during his election to represent Ogbaru Federal Constituency in the House of House of Representatives.
Awogu who spoke at Atani during the inauguration of Ikemba Front Atani Ward 1 and award ceremony, said there were two APGAs now in Anambra State, which he called the Old and New APGA.
Ikemba Front taken after Ojukwu’s title is a pressure group within the Anambra State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) committed to the realization of the party’s governorship ambition in Anambra State next year.
Awogu explained that the new APGA led by the Governor has abandoned: “our father who was the Ikemba Nnewi, while the old APGA which they belong have now joined APC.”
Giving graphic example of the two APGAs with the party’s uniforms used by the former Governors on the platform of the party, starting with the former Governor Peter Obi, Chief Willie Obiano and Soludo himself, Awogu argued that the two former Governors honoured and respected Ikemba Nnewi, inscribing his face in their uniforms but Soludo removed it from his own, , an act he said was a clear indication of lack of respect for the late national leader of the party.
He alleged that the action showed that they don’t need Dim Ojukwu to win their election, stating that they in Ikemba Front of APC constitute the old APGA, while the new APGA belonged to Soludo and his co-travellers.
“This clarification is necessary for all to know the truth.The national leadership of our great party should understand this and throw their weight behind the party in Anambra State in the next governorship election,” said Awogu.
He said the time for APC to take over the mantle of leadership in Anambra State is now and nothing should stop them.
He assured that they would not relent in their struggle and match towards Government House, Awka come next year.
The high point of the ocassion was the post humous award to Late Senator Ifeanyi Uba, APC governorship aspirant, Chief Paul Chukwuma, Senator Uche Ekwunife, Awogu himself and others.
The chairman of the Organising Committee of the event, Engr Kenechukwu John Anichie, said their target in 2025 governorship election was to clinch emphatic victory.
“Our great party will win. We are sure of victory . That is out target and we will realise it,” he said.
He lauded those who honoured the inauguration, especially their Leader Awogu , saying that the even been postponed several times but was grateful it eventually took place.
