Man Utd Willing to Pay Release Clause
Player wants to wait for Real Madrid
Mastantuono has a £38m release clause in his contract with River Plate, and Man Utd are willing to pay it in installments. In fact, the Reds have already held two meetings about a deal with the player’s entourage and River, but no agreement could be found.
It’s now emerged however that Mastantuono, who has been described as ‘the future best No.10 in the world’, is in no rush to leave his boyhood club and in fact wants to wait until the final moment to secure a move to Real Madrid instead.
The 17-year-old, who Juan Pablo Angel recently described as “extraordinary”, is currently out of contract in December 2026, but River are hopeful of convincing him to sign a new contract that will not only tie him to the club long-term but also raise his release clause to better reflect his quality and value.
There is also interest from Ligue 1 side Marseille, but the player outright refused the club as he has no interest in a move to France.
