NUJ, in a communique issued at end of its monthly congress held in Awka and signed by the Chairman, Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, and Secretary, Dr Okechukwu Onuegbu, enjoined the state government to sustain the tempo.
The council, however, called on the Anambra state government to double its efforts to stamp out insecurity in the state for an assured security of lives and property of the citizens.
“Congress, therefore, welcomed the operation udo-ga-achi, and, Agunechemba security outfit but appealed to the outfit to do well to rescue kidnapped victims alive where possible. Congress further encouraged Ndi Anambra to see themselves as part of the security efforts of the government by saying something when they see something,” it added.
The journalists further praised the new roads across the state being constructed by governor Soludo-led administration, noting that it would help in opening up the rural communities and the state for investors thereby granting better life for people at the grassroots.
“Congress also praised the massive works at the new government house at the three arms zone near Dr Alex Ekwueme Square Aroma. The project consists of governor’s Lodge, presidential Lodge, press Hangout, police court, governor’s office and Deputy governor’s office, to mention but a few,” it noted.
