In a statement in Damaturu, the KACRAN National President, Khalil Mohd Bello, emphasised the importance of traditional rulers’ involvement in resolving herders-farmers conflicts.
KACRAN’s appeal is a call to action for traditional rulers to take a proactive role in resolving the ongoing conflicts between herders and farmers.
By leveraging their influence and authority, traditional rulers can facilitate dialogue, reconciliation, and peaceful coexistence between these groups.
According to KACRAN, “traditional rulers have the authority to grant permission for grazing and farming, ensuring mutual respect and cooperation between herders and farmers.
“The association acknowledges the efforts of some traditional rulers, such as the Emir of Fika, Alhaji Muhammad Ibn Abali Ibn Idrisa, who has actively engaged with KACRAN to maintain peace during farming seasons.
“The Emir of Fika’s initiatives include monitoring grazing reserves and enforcing compliance to prevent encroachment”.
