An undertaker by profession, Segun Adekoya, has been killed by gunmen in Kogi State.
Adekoya was the Director of an undertakers’ group in the state.
According to reports, he was murdered by gunmen on Saturday while his team was returning back to Egbe in Yagba East local government of the state after officiating at a funeral ceremony in Ponyan community.
Report said the deceased had just bought a new ambulance for the smooth operation of his burial business, but the vehicle developed a tyre problem on that fateful day at 5pm along Egbe-Ogbe-Ponyan road in Yagba East local government of the state.
This medium gathered from several sources that it was in the course of fixing the tyre that gunmen opened fire on the occupants, an attack that culminated in Adekoya’s killing.
“He was not as lucky as others, partly because of a leg problem occasioned by an injury he sustained from an accident some time ago which prevented him from escaping when the gunmen attacked them,” sources said.
Opinions about his killers are also divided. While some pointed accusing fingers at marauding herdsmen, others attributed it to kidnappers.
