BREAKING: Police rescue kidnap victim in Akwa-Ibom, recover vehicle

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, disclosed this in a statement in Uyo on Saturday.

John said on February 13, the command received information that a man was kidnapped along Okop Eto road and taken to an unknown destination by the kidnappers.

“Based on credible intelligence, operatives of the command immediately swung into action and engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel.

“The hoodlums, overwhelmed by superior firepower fled with severe gunshot injuries, leaving the victim unharmed.

“The victim was rescued unhurt, his vehicle recovered and has since been reunited with his family,” she said.

According to her, items recovered during the operation included one Lexus RX 350 SUV, ash in colour.

She further stated that efforts are in top gear to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.

The police image maker said that investigations are ongoing to recover weapons used in the crime and bring those responsible to justice.

She added that the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom Command, Baba Azare, has commended the officers for their swift response.
