Before now, there were unconfirmed reports that Ude-Okoye and the National Vice Chairman (South East) Ali Odefa, were arrested for allegedly forging PDP primary election guidelines.
A chieftain of the party, Mike Iheanaetu, had filed a petition before the police alleging that documents presented in legal proceedings that upheld Ude-Okoye as National Secretary were falsified.
Iheanaetu had alleged that the forged documents lacked a date and signatures, alleging further that the original primary election guidelines were signed on February 17, 2022, by former National Chairman Dr. Iyochia Ayu and National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.
However, while speaking to newsmen over the weekend, Ude-Okoye, who is currently in Enugu said he was not arrested or held in police custody over any issue.
“I am not in any detention, I am in my house in Enugu and I’m not under any form of arrest.
“I am not involved in any forgery of a document and I will not get involved in forgery of any document. I did not tell anybody to forge any document, and nobody forged any document for me,” he stated.
Although, he confirmed that he was invited by the police in Abuja a few days ago, where he was allowed to go after spending 20 minutes having promised to cooperate with the police in their investigations.
The Court of Appeal, Enugu Division had it would be recalled affirmed the judgement of the Enugu High Court that sacked Anyanwu as National Secretary and ordered the party to swear in Ude-Okoye as his successor.
But despite support from the PDP National Working Committee (NWC), which met and supported the implementation of the court judgment, Anyanwu, has refused to leave, claiming that an appeal against the judgement, where he obtained a stay of execution still subsist.
