Speaking through his official X account on Monday, September 30, Sowore declared that the protest against hunger, insecurity, and economic hardship would go ahead as planned under the hashtag #FearlessInOctober.

He emphasized that the protest, set to take place across all regions of Nigeria, including at Eagles Square in Abuja, will be peaceful, despite past government crackdowns.

“The last protests were peaceful, yet the government met the protesters with batons and bullets,” Sowore said.

“We will not be deterred. Our only weapon is the truth, and no amount of force or violence will prevent us from speaking truth to power.”

Citing the rapidly increasing fuel prices, the falling value of the naira, escalating market prices, and widespread insecurity, Sowore questioned why Nigerians would not want to express their frustration.

He stressed that the dire economic conditions have worsened since the last protest, with more communities now facing violence from bandits and cities struggling with devastating floods.

The Lagos organizers have announced their intention to begin their march at the Ikeja Under Bridge at 7:30 am, while similar protests will take place in multiple states.

Sowore assured the public that the protests will remain nonviolent but warned that the voices of Nigerians suffering from hunger and hardship will not be silenced.
