BREAKING: Nigerian Government Issues Warning On Illegal Fuel Sales Amid Ongoing Scarcity

The Federal Government, through the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), has issued a stern warning to Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) retailers against engaging in the illegal sale of petrol as scarcity persists in Abuja, Nasarawa, and Niger states.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement released via its official X account, NMDPRA cautioned retail outlets to avoid serving black market operators. The authority emphasized, “NMDPRA is intensifying efforts against the illegal sale of petroleum products, particularly PMS in jerrycans. Filling stations must refrain from dealing with illegal vendors, or face suspension of their retail licenses.”

This warning comes amid ongoing fuel shortages in the nation’s capital. A recent check by DAILY POST revealed that most filling stations are either closed or operating minimally, with only Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) outlets along Kubwa Expressway dispensing fuel.

This scarcity follows a previous statement from NNPCL spokesperson Olufemi Soneye, who cited operational issues with several vessels as the cause. Despite this, fuel shortages persist without a lasting resolution.

Last month, PETROAN President Billy Gillis-Harry called for the establishment of a dedicated task force to address the recurring fuel scarcity problem.
