However, he emphasised that there is still significant work ahead for the Nigeria to elevate the country’s sports to its rightful place on the country and globally.
He was speaking at the Junior Secondary School Tungan-Maje 11th Inter-House Competition, Gwagwalada Abuja. Chief Aigbefoh underscored the importance of developing local sports particularly focusing on enhancing the Nigerian school’s sports competitions. He highlighted the need for increased funding as a crucial factor in the overall development of sports in the country.
“We have challenges but I think we also need to get back and sort out our issues, he pointing out that sport is all about unity. he stated.
The Director-Principal of the school, Hajiya (Dr.) Hafsat Alaba Mohammed in her welcome address stated that, we believe in holistic education – one that develops not only the mind but also character and skills. She said, over time we have made remarkable strides in changing attitudes toward education. Some in society once believed that schooling was a scam, but today, our students stand as living proof that education transforms lives, Sharpe’s futures, and and unlocks limitless possibilities.
Our dedicated teachers have worked tirelessly to instill discipline, respect, and a love for learning among our students, and for this, I commend them, she stated.
The Director Principal enumerated some achievements and challenges facing the school which functional toilets for the hygiene and well-being of the students,An ICT laboratory to enhance digital literacy, A well-equipped library to promote a strong reading culture, Basic Technology workshop to provide hands-on skills, standard science laboratories to encourage practical leaning, and pre-vocational and SAGE club facilities to empower students with entrepreneurial and life skills. The principal appeal to stakeholders, Government agencies, and well-meaning individuals to support the school.
On his part, the Chairman, Parents Teachers’ Association (PTA) Junior Secondary School (JSS) Tungan-Maje Mohammed Isah Hassan, pledged to embrace the Private Public Partnership (PPP) initiative to improve facilities in the school to boost leaning, stating that, there is a lot of infrastructural decay. We will meet with the school management on how to tackle the situation.
