The Flying Eagles under coach Aliyu Zubairu returned to training camp in Abuja to prepare for two warm-up games against Egypt in Cairo on February 25 and 27.

However, both teams were Thursday drawn in the same group at this year’s U20 AFCON to be hosted by Cote d’Ivoire in April.

Incidentally, the Flying Eagles will open their U20 AFCON campaign with an opening Group B match against Egypt.

A top team official has now told only SCORENigeria that the friendlies in Egypt are off.

“The Flying Eagles will no longer play the friendlies in Egypt after the draw pitched both of us in the same group,” he informed.

It is now left to be seen whether the NFF will organise another round of international friendlies to prepare the Junior Eagles for the U20 AFCON.
