Presenting a sympathy letter to Governor Babagana Zulum at the Government House, Maiduguri on Monday, the daughter of the elder statesman, Miss Gloria Danjuma said, “I am here on behalf of my father, General TY Danjuma to sympathize with you and the people of the state over the recent flood incident that claimed many lives, property worth millions of Naira destroyed, while social economic activities disrupted.
“On behalf of the Danjuma Foundation I want to present to you a token donation of N1 billion to assist the victims of the flood”, Miss Danjuma said
Also, a Kano-based, Business mogul, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Rano (AARano) has donated the sum of N50 million, in addition to free air service to and fro from Maiduguri to the guests.
The Chairman A A Rano groups, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Rano, represented by his Managing Director, Alhaji Lawan Bakin Zuwo said “We are here to sympathize with you and the flood victims over the recent flood that ravaged Maiduguri, the state capital.
Similarly, the Zenith Bank Plc also donated the sum of N300 million to the victims of the Maiduguri flood
Presenting the cheque to Governor Babagana Zulum at the Government House, Maiduguri, the leader of the Zenith Bank delegation, Mrs Confort Kwajjafa said they were at the Government House to sympathize with Governor Zulum and the good people of the state over the unfortunate flood incident.
“On behalf of the Zenith Bank, I present to you the sum of N300 million to support the victims of the Maiduguri flood”, she said.
In his separate response, Governor Babagana Zulum thanked them for the donations and assured that the funds will be judiciusly utilized, saying that ” no single Kobo will be diverted.”
