“When I reflect on the actions and inactions of most Nigerian politicians and political leaders in power or around those at the corridors of power, I doubt seriously if these sets of people love Nigerians and have the interests of the masses at heart,” Okutepa stated. “Most of these political actors are heartless. They are wicked in the extreme. They came to power or stay around those in power or corridors of power to steal, kill, and destroy.”
Okutepa extended his criticism to other Nigerians closely connected to those in power, arguing that they act in the interest of the powerful rather than the people. He pointed to the lack of nationalistic views and values among those in politics, claiming that they have no plans for Nigeria’s future.
The Senior Advocate also highlighted the growing lawlessness exhibited by politicians and their supporters, describing it as “democratic terrorism in action.” He accused the security forces of being corrupt and partisan, stating that “nobody cares about the survival of the Nigerian state and the people.”
Okutepa called on the President to take prompt action to remove those causing trouble and restore law and order, emphasizing that mere preaching is not enough. He warned that the government is turning itself into an enemy of the people and that Nigerians are becoming increasingly agitated.
The Senior Advocate traced the roots of the current political thuggery to the failure of political parties and institutions to follow due process in democratic processes and the acceptance of electoral fraud by the justice system. He called on Nigerians to demand the sources of wealth of those making donations to public institutions.
In a powerful conclusion, Okutepa urged the immediate removal of those destabilizing and desecrating Nigeria, warning that the country is heading towards a state of nature if urgent action is not taken.
