BREAKING: I’m Worried About The Drought Situation In my Constituency – Samuel Abu Jinapor

Member of parliament for Damongo Constituency, Samuel Abu Jinapor has appealed to religious leaders in the Damongo constituency and beyond to intensify prayers for Allah’s mercies for the rains to fall to save crops that are dying as a result of drought.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Damongo MP in a telephone interview with newsalertgh disclosed that he will personally support farmers in the constituency but whilst waiting for the support, the clergy including the Imams must join hands in continuous prayers for God to intervene in the drought situation in the area.

He said the droughts are being felt as a result of the effects of the tree cutting over the years he used the opportunity to appeal to the people of the Savannah Region to immediately halt and urged especially the people of the Damongo constituency to support his Green Damongo Project by planting more trees.

“I understand the frustration and challenges that come with drought during the farming season as a farmer’s son. As your representative, I want to assure you that we are working closely with the Government to provide the necessary support and relief,” he said.

The MP retreated that some immediate measures to mitigate the effects of the drought.

He announced that the Damongo Constituency Farmers Empowerment Program, initiated by him, will be reinforced to provide agri-inputs, which will restore hope to farmers in the constituency

However, he cautioned against human activities such as indiscriminate felling of trees, charcoal burning activities and more.

Earlier on Monday 12th August 2024, Hon. Abu Jinapor joined the Muslim Ummah in the Damongo Municipality for a prayer session known as Salat Al-Istisqa, which is a special Islamic prayer seeking divine intervention in times of drought.

Many farmlands across the Savannah Region are in serious crisis as for over one month, the region has not experienced rainfall.

This is the season for farming with over 90% of the population in the region engaged in farming as the main occupation of the people.

Animals are not left out as grasses are also dying as a result of the lack of rainfall in the region.
