P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Sadam Habu, forcefully broke into the office after the workers had gone home, stole the money and in order to cover up, poured petrol into the office and set it ablaze.
The incident happened at the company known as Asia Plastic Company located at Gezewa LGA of the State, where he was employed as a security guard.
Apart from the money he stole, many financial business transactions documents were said to have been burnt and damaged before he attempted to escape with the money.
The actual amount he allegedly stole was not disclosed by the company and the Police who apprehended him but the money was said to be in millions of Naira in the box.
The suspect, Habu, who claimed to be a native of Adamawa State, was employed as a security man at the company and while there he perfected the plan to steal the money.
According to the Police, the suspect, Habu, allegedly broken into the cashier’s office and took away large sums of money contained in a box and thereafter set the office ablaze.
However, he ran out of luck as he tried to escape; he was caught with the money which was retrieved from him and handed over to the Police for prosecution over his alleged conduct.
This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed his arrest and detention in custody while undergoing interrogation over his alleged conduct.
The image maker stated that upon receipt of the report, Police Commissioner, Salman Dogo, dispatched DPO Gezewa, CSP Haruna Ilyasu, to the scene and the suspect was arrested while trying to escape with the money.
SP Kiyawa said the money had been recovered from the suspect and investigation into the incident has begun. He stated that the suspect will be charged before the Court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Laws of the State but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
