DAILY POST reports that the world football governing body recently announced that it is working with Coldplay’s lead vocalist, Chris Martin, to curate the first Super Bowl-style halftime show at the World Cup final next year.
In a chat with Fox5, Infantino welcomed the suggestion of Drake being the maiden headliner as a “good idea”.
The co-host said, “I have a great idea for you the halftime; Drake! Because Kendrick Lamar did his thing at the Super Bowl…”
Infantino: “So we can create a bit of rivalry, right? That’s a good idea. Actually, Drake was with us when we announced the host cities [of the tournament]… We will do that [sign him for the halftime show].”
The MetLife Stadium in New Jersey — to be known as New York New Jersey Stadium for the World Cup — will host the final on July 19, 2026. FIFA is also staging what Infantino called a “takeover” of Times Square for the final weekend of the tournament, which will be co-hosted by the US, Mexico and Canada.
