Two goals in the second half was all FC Bako needed to dethrone defending Champions, Kogi Central FC.

The first half was full of activities and either of the teams would have taken the lead but both were inconsistent in front of goal as numerous goal scoring opportunities that came their way were all blown away.

FC Bako went in front with a Superb finish after some scramble in the Kogi Central FC vital area.

Kogi Central FC immediately responded and three minutes later levelled up.

The game became more tense as both sides looked for the winning goal to avoid the spotkick contest which has always been referred to as a game of luck.

The winning goal came in the 76th minute of the game from FC Bako.

All effort to level up for the second time by the defending champions was met with stiff resistance from the FC Bako backline.

Speaking shortly after the encounter, Coach of FC Bako, Anthony Wilson told DAILY POST that the confidence, determination and resilience displayed by his boys gave them the title.

He commended the Kogi State Football Association for a perfect organization and execution, promising to make the State proud at the National playoffs.

Also speaking, Chairman Kogi State Football Association, Mallam Hassan Wada said, “It was a very exciting and explosive encounter. The talent pool was massive and very promising.

“As chairman, I will facilitate trials for some of the players who have distinguished themselves with the junior National teams.

“I want to assure the football loving kogites that the stadium will be fixed very soon. Our Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo, has given his word that the stadium will be renovated in phases starting with the football pitch, dressing room and administrative block ”

Mallam Hassan Wada also called on Kogites, especially the football loving ones, to keep supporting the Football Association and it’s laudable programmes.

FC Bako and Kogi Central FC will for the second year running represent Kogi State at the National Playoffs of the President Federation Cup later in the year.
