Pastor Giwa lamented that fake prophets and pastors were using candles to deceive people in the name of prayers.
In a statement he issued, Giwa stressed that relying on the word of God is more powerful than the use of candles.
The clergyman said: “Nobody that works closely with God that won’t hear his voice. Somebody said God doesn’t speak again, no – God still speaks.
“Is it a so-called clergyman who uses charms to lay his alter that God will talk to? The work of God can never spoil. Anything that has God’s hands stand.
“Look at how a lot of fake pastors and prophets are deceiving people, we can see it when Jesus Christ entered the town of Naphtali and Zebulun. The town was in total darkness and when Jesus Christ entered, he shone his light in there.
“Jesus Christ told them, do you know that you love darkness more than light? Today, when you see a church that preaches the truth, it’s difficult for such to have a large congregation.
“But the one that deceives people, tells them to go and bring 12 candles, that’s the type of church people prefer to attend. You will realize that the heart of most people who attend such churches are not with God.
“Knowing the word of God is more powerful than relying on a candle. Lighting or praying with candles can not solve problems. It is the word of God that has solutions to all challenges.
“Hebrews 4:12 says the word of God is sharper than any two-edged sword. Discard any pastor who asks you to go bring candles.”
