BREAKING: EPL: ‘He was careless’ – Amorim criticises Dorgu over red card in Man United 3-2 win

Dorgu will now serve a three-match ban after the card he received during their 3-2 win.

Dorgu only joined the Red Devils from Italian side, Lecce during the January window and was playing his third game for United since he joined.

It was an eventful outing for Dorgu, who played a role in Jaden Philogene’s first goal in the fourth minute.

The Red Devils fought back to take the lead, thanks to an own goal from Sam Morsy and a Matthijs de Ligt effort, before Dorgu was shown a red carrd following an uncalculated challenged on Omari Hutchinson in the 43rd minute.

Referee Darren England eventually brandished a red card following a VAR review.

Philogene grabbed his second of the night just moments later before Harry Maguire restored United’s advantage with an emphatic header – which proved to be the winner – at the start of the second half.

The red card means he will miss United’s next three matches in domestic competitions, starting with the FA Cup fifth-round tie against Fulham on Sunday.

“Patrick Dorgu is ready for the Premier League, he has proven that in the last few games,” Ruben Amorim told reporters after the game via Romano Fabrizio.

“Any player can make a mistake like that. He wants to play the ball, but he was maybe a bit careless in the way he went into contact”.
