BREAKING: Enugu ready to demolish marked structures on two major roads

The Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Ngozi Ngene, made this known in a statement on Saturday in Enugu.

She said the affected areas include the marked structures along the 44.1km Nike Lake Road Dualisation Project road from Peenox-Nowas-Ugwuogo-Opi Nsukka and Abakpa Nike-Opi Nsukka Junction.

Others are the marked structures along the 21.5km Enugu Airport Road Flyover Bridge road from Eke Obinagu-Owo Junction, Amechi Idodo, and Ebonyi Border.

Ms Ngene said residents and property owners at the affected areas had been advised to remove their belongings and vacate the premises immediately to avoid damage and loss of life.

She noted that the government had previously marked the affected structures and issued notices to property owners.

Ms Ngene said, “All complaints should be directed to the Lands/Property Reconciliation and Compensation Committee at the Abuja Building, Government House, Enugu. This demolition is part of the state government’s efforts to develop and expand its infrastructure. The project aims to improve road safety, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents. The Enugu State Government assures residents that the demolition is necessary for the greater good and that adequate compensation will be provided to affected property owners.’’
