Bello’s arrest comes as the federal government has filed a 16-count charge against the former governor at a Federal High Court in Abuja.
The charges revolve around allegations of criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of public funds amounting to ₦110,446,470,089 during his tenure as governor.
Sources revealed that Bello arrived at the EFCC office in a black Hilux vehicle and was accompanied by his lawyers.
He is currently being interrogated by EFCC operatives in connection with the charges.
The case has intensified public scrutiny of Bello’s financial dealings, with calls for accountability growing louder.
Legal experts and anti-corruption advocates have described the charges as a significant test of the government’s commitment to addressing financial impropriety in public office.
