During a press conference held in Osogbo, the state capital, on Wednesday, the coalition accused the governor of failing to address demands raised during the recent “End Bad Governance” protest.

Comrade Adetunji Ajala, coordinator of the youth group, spoke on behalf of the coalition leaders, stating, “We are demanding that the government clarify the amount received from the federal government and how it has been spent. The government should clearly outline its welfare package to alleviate the effects of hunger.”

The coalition’s demands include implementation of massive reforms and new minimum wage, payment of outstanding salaries and pensions and employment opportunities for youth

Ajala warned that if these demands are not met, the state government should prepare for mass mobilization on October 1, 2024.

“Our patience is not infinite. We have been reasonable, we have been patient, but we will not be ignored, If the government continues to turn a deaf ear to the cries of the people, they should brace themselves for the mother of all protests on October 1st as the citizens will not continue to fold their hands on the continuous increase of food and basic needs without corresponding measures to curb the unfortunate inflation.”

Also, the group flayed Federal Government over the purchase of a private jet amidst hardship in Nigeria.

“Instead of the relief we sought, the situation has grown increasingly. The ongoing fuel scarcity has crippled daily life, driving up the cost of living to unbearable levels.

“As if these hardships were not enough, we learned with shock and disbelief that the federal government purchased a private aircraft for the presidency, an extravagant expense that comes at a time when millions of Nigerians are struggling to make ends meet.

“This blatant disregard for the procurement process, coupled with the government’s indifference to the suffering of the masses speaks volumes about the current administration’s priorities,” said the group.
