P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 19th August, 2024, at Idiroko bus stop, Maryland area of Lagos.

According to the Police, the suspects and others at large told the victim that they had and wanted to sell a Lexus RX 350 2018 Model SUV to him. They bargained for the price and he paid the money to them.

However, after the suspects received the money from him, they bolted away and disconnected every communication he had with them and did not supply the vehicle in question which he had paid for.

The matter was reported to the Police at Ikeja Division. The operatives moved into action, the suspects were trailed, eventually arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over their alleged conduct.

After interrogation, the Police found them culpable and consequently charged them before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Laws of the State.

According to the Police, the suspects committed an offence contrary to provision Section 313 and punishable under Section 314 and 287 of Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

However, they pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted them bail in the sum of N2m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned till 24th October, 2024, for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
