While introducing the new commander to the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, on Wednesday, the outgoing commander, Brig. Gen. Diya, described his working relationship with the state government as harmonious. He expressed confidence that Brig. Gen. Bello would build on the existing collaboration to ensure Abia State remains secure and free from terrorist threats.

Brigadier General HM Bello has had a distinguished career in the Nigerian Army, marked by several key appointments and commendations. Prior to his recent posting as the Commander of the 14 Brigade in Ohafia, Abia State, he served as the Chief of Staff to the Commander Infantry Corps at the Headquarters Infantry Corps Center.

In his previous roles, Brig. Gen. Bello has been recognized for his honorable service. Notably, he served as the Commander of the 63rd Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Asaba, Delta State, where he was commended by the then-Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his dedicated service. 

His leadership experience and commitment to duty have been acknowledged through various promotions and redeployments within the army’s hierarchy. As he assumes command of the 14 Brigade, his extensive background is expected to enhance security operations and strengthen civil-military relations in Abia State.

The new commander’s extensive experience is expected to further strengthen security operations in Abia State and foster stronger civil-military cooperation in the region.
