The 29-year-old Spain international is currently under contract with the Parisians until June 2026. He has been at PSG since July 2023 when he arrived from Real Madrid.
There is no option to buy in the deal and Villa will reportedly cover Asensio’s wages.
Villa manager Unai Emery has been desperate to bolster their attack following the departure of top scorer Jhon Duran to Al Nassr for £65million.
The club brought in Man United striker Marcus Rashford on loan on Sunday night and now they have secured Asensio.
He becomes Villa’s fourth signing of the winter transfer window after Rashford, Donyell Malen and Andres Garcia.
Three-time Champions League winner Asensio has scored seven goals in 47 appearances for PSG, having netted 61 times in 286 outings for Real Madrid.
Asensio could make his Villa debut alongside Rashford against Tottenham in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
Following Saturday night’s 2-0 defeat by Wolves, Unai Emery insisted that his team needed to make additions before the winter transfer window shut.
‘We need some players,’ he told the BBC post match. ‘We need to replace some players who left. Tomorrow and Monday are the last two days.
‘I think we’ll get some players to help us because we’re in the Champions League last 16. We have to try to get points in the Premier League to be top eight, seven, six, five.’
