APC’s Deputy National Organising Secretary, Nze Chidi Duru, emphasized that TNN is neither recognized as part of the APC nor are its members legitimate party affiliates. He noted that Jonathan is not a registered member of the APC, rendering TNN’s actions independent of the party’s agenda.
TNN, which claims to have mobilized over 26 million voters and established political structures, is reportedly working towards registering as a political party with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The group’s activities have sparked discussions about Jonathan’s potential return to politics, despite his denial of involvement in similar campaigns during past elections.
The APC reiterated its commitment to democratic principles, welcoming internal initiatives but dismissed TNN’s actions as unrelated to the party. Meanwhile, veteran political leader Alhaji Tanko Yakasai supported Jonathan’s eligibility to contest for the presidency, highlighting his unfulfilled second term.
