I Met Her On A Bus, Cuddled For A Night And Then She Disappeared
I was on a bus when she came to sit next to me. She said I was cute and asked if I was travelling home or away from home. I was going back to Accra, where I lived and worked, after visiting my mom in Sunyani.......CONTINUE READING THE ARTICLE FROM THE SOURCE>>>>>
She asked, “Can I sleep on your shoulder when I begin to doze off?”
She was so straightforward I wondered where she came from and why there were so many questions. Along the way, she told me, “A guy like you broke my heart today after I travelled all the way from Accra to see him. I met him with another woman. The woman is pregnant by him.”
She didn’t look heartbroken. She laughed and was giddy throughout. I learned about her friends. I learned about her work as a freelancer. Then I realized I was connecting with her in a special way. She was beautiful and free-spirited. When she fell asleep, she rested on my shoulder. Later, she put her head on my lap. I also slept.
We exchanged contacts when we got to Accra. Two days later, I proposed to her. She asked, “Are you here to mend me or make me worse?”
She came over to my place. I taught her to play football on PS5. We watched her favourite movie. At night, when we went to sleep, she asked for cuddles, which led to more cuddles and nothing else. She slept in my arms, her head on my hand, until my hand became numb like a tree stump. I couldn’t feel my hand anymore, but love and cuddles wouldn’t let me tell her that it hurt.
In the morning, she called me a gentleman and said I was too kind. That was the second and last time I saw her. She stopped talking to me. She stopped replying to my text messages. She was scared I would break her into pieces. “A boy like you did what he did,” she told me. “I need proper healing, so let me heal first.”
Strangers, lovers, friends, and then back to strangers again. She appeared from nowhere and disappeared just as fast as she came.
