I read a post the other day that tackled some of the things natural women love and hate about their natural hair and thought wouldn’t it be cute to explore the same topic here?......CONTINUE READING THE ARTICLE FROM THE SOURCE>>>>>

When I saw the title at first I already knew what mine would be and it is safe to say many of the women who are natural like myself feel exactly the same way. Here are my top 7 things I hate and love about my natural hair all at the same time.

1. Shrinkage

I love shrinkage, it makes my hair look thick and full and it means my curls are poppin everywhere. I hate shrinkage because it makes me think I haven’t made any head way with my growth journey. Recently I have decided to forget the growth journey and just enjoy shrinkage for what it is.

2. Frizz

‘Aint nothin worse’ that having my hair frizz when I just did all that preparation the night before to avoid frizz the next day. I love frizz because sometimes it can look amazing when you least expect it.

3. Detangling

There is no way around this one, I frankly hate detangling, aint no love here boo!

4. Stigma’s

We have all had our share of negativity when it comes to our hair. That moment when someone closest to you asks you if you ‘combed’ or ‘did’ your hair, and clearly you have.

While we all hate stigma’s many of us have stuck it out through the negativity, and in a sense have grown a little tough skin as a result and that is a great thing.

5. Attention

Attention can be a double edged sword, on one hand, personally I love and can take a compliment, and on another hand it can get weird if you start to touch or smell or ask personal questions.

6. Roots

I stole this one, but much like detangling there is no love and hate relationship, I just plain love the fact that I can touch, feel and enjoy my naturally curly roots. I had this ‘problem’ when I started to transition where I could not keep my hands out of my hair, touching the roots ever so often. I still do the same thing to this day!

7. Versatility

Do not tell me natural hair isn’t versatile! I couldn’t tell you how many times I thought back to my relaxed days and wondered why I did not try this option before relaxing. I can wear my hair straight, curly, super curly, stretched curly, bone straight, you name it, my hair can do it.

I love the versatility of my natural hair. Now it is your turn, what are some of the things you love and hate about your natural hair?
