The spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has responded to Nigerians who vowed never to marry children of police officers. It began when an user on X (formerly Twitter) expressed his disgust at children whose parents are police personnel......See Full Story>>.....See Full Story>>
According to him, these children have received curses as a result of the actions of their parents in uniform.
The social media user wrote, “As I became a man and started dating, I told myself that God forbid make I date Nigeria Police officer pikin. They come with uncleanable swear.”
He said this following a post made by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi congratulating the IGP on his son’s wedding ceremony.
ACP Adejobi shared on his page, “Congrats to Mr Victor Egbetokun and his wife, Anjolaoluwa, on their wedding ceremony, which took place in lagos on Saturday. May the Lord bless your home. It’s well with you. Congrats to the IGP and Mama, Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun. Ire oo.”
Another X user named Ibrahim, also supported the claim of not wanting to marry into the family of a police officer.
Ibrahim wrote, “God forbid make I marry police pikin; children wey Don received swear and curse from the result of their father’s atrocities in the uniform.”
These comments sparked a debate with Adejobi, who did not hesitate to slam those X users for their comments.
He said, “Police officers don’t have pikins. We have children. And those who know their value appreciate them. God is great.”
Adejobi further tackled those trolls, saying, “How we wish we knew where your dad worked or works, we would have deduced whether his profession is worse or remains the worst, and his children have been so cursed. This street called X can cover many things. Could you be bold enough to tell us your background or dad’s so that we judge you here right away. Orisirisi.”
Ibrahim, who was not backing down from his intentions, went on to respond to ACP Adejobi, “My dad is a proud contractor and a carpenter, and he trained all his children well, a very well respected person in the communities. My dad’s money doesn’t come with a curse or oppress the people by cheating dem. I can tell you a lot more of my dad, but use dat one hold yourself.”
Below are some mixed reactions
@African_unifier: If you live in police barracks then you will know what this guy is saying is nothing but the truth.
@AdeleLawal: How sure are you that a police pikin’ would also like to marry someone who exhibits such a juvenile mindset?
l.tobiloba: Most Police officer’s children I know, their lives don pafuka. You can’t raise a child with cursed bribery money and expect them to have a better life.
wilsluv11: If you are a police officers child gather here. My dad was a Police officer and retired as Asst. superintendent of Police and I’m proud to have grown up under him and call him my father. You don’t even know how great police kids have become. It’s not even about profession but personality.
Even those with greatest profession have both good and bad kids
@Goziskilz: My dad is a retired police officer and he told me and siblings “I never used bribe money to train you, so if you have a stupid behaviour, you learnt it outside my home”. All thanks to him and belive me, he retired before his time
@Rickendee: My brother you are damn right o! So spot on. All those illegal money they collect in police station to make phone calls, collecting money from LIARS to prosecute people wrongly I’ve been a victim of such. Nigeria police work is a cursed work. They do dirty, corrupt things to people.
@EnweluonyeAmobi: Because there’s a different between when somebody is just cursing you and when you deserves his curse as a result of your behaviors. How can citizens fear police even more than criminals.
