In a tweet on X, Romano reported that Merino is set to travel to London in the coming days to complete his medical with Arsenal.
“Mikel Merino to Arsenal, here we go! Verbal agreement in place for Spanish midfielder to join Gunners,” Romano wrote on Thursday.
“€32m plus €5m add-ons with favourable payment terms. Contract until 2028.
“Arsenal had been closing in on the Merino deal since the end of July, Merino only wanted Arsenal.
“He’s set to travel for medical, signing until 2028 plus option.”
