Bayo Onanuga, the president’s special adviser on information and strategy, stated that the appointments include positions at the National Universities Commission (NUC), the New Partnership for Africa Development (NEPAD), the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), and the Solid Minerals Development Fund/Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Initiative (SMDF/PAGMI).
According to Onanuga, Abdullahi Ribadu, a visiting professor at the NUC, has been appointed as the new Executive Secretary of the organisation. Ribadu, an expert in veterinary reproduction, previously served as vice-chancellor at both the Federal University of Technology, Yola, and Sule Lamido University in Jigawa State.
The president has also appointed Salisu Shehu, a distinguished academic in educational and human psychology, as the new Executive Secretary of the NERDC. Professor Shehu was pivotal in the establishment of the School of Continuing Education at Bayero University, Kano, and has served as Vice-Chancellor of Al-Istiqamah University, Kano.
Jabiru Abdullahi Tsauri has been appointed as the National Coordinator of NEPAD, while Yazid Danfulani is now the Executive Secretary of the SMDF/PAGMI. Tsauri holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University and has expertise in legislative affairs, global issues, and democratic governance, along with extensive public service experience.
Danfulani, who has a solid background in Banking, Computing, and Business Administration, previously worked at the Central Bank of Nigeria and served as Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in Zamfara State, as noted by Onanuga.
