NAFDAC, in a statement on X, said products worth over N52m were seized during the operation.
The agency recalled that the products were banned in 2018, following a ministerial directive and agreements with key stakeholders, including the Distiller Association of Nigeria (DIBAN), the Association of Food Beverages & Tobacco Employers (AFBTE) and Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).
It also noted that the manufacturers were given a phased timeline to stop the production and distribution of the products.
The agency warned manufacturers, retailers, and distributors to cease production, sale, and distribution of the banned items.
It further advised the public to avoid purchasing these products, noting that they pose significant health risks, particularly to children.
“Violation will face strict penalties as outlined in the Agency’s regulations,” NAFDAC warned.
