One of the unidentified persons was said to be a driver of a private vehicle while the other person was a man said to be working at his shop.
The sad incident which occurred Wednesday about 7.20 pm in the evening also saw one of vehicle burnt.
It was gathered that the incident allegedly happened when a military vehicle conveying military personnel to Nnewi saw a police vehicle following after it but mistook it for hoodlum vehicle trailing them.
It was said that’s the military personnel allegedly opened fire on the vehicle and in the process shot the victims.
It was said that some separatists had allegedly vowed to attack and unleash mayhem during late senator Patrick Ifeanyi Unah’s burial.
Security has since the week been intensified in Anambra to secure the Ives and properties of the citizens and visitors to the state as the remains of late Senator Ifeanyi Patrick Ubah would be laid to rest in his home town Nnewi, on Friday.

The Police Publix Relations Officer, Ikemga Tochukwu stated as follows regarding the shooting: “Preliminary information shows that security operatives on investigation trailed a suspect to a security checkpoint before the gun duel ensued.
“Unfortunately, bullets hit the fuel tank of the Toyota Venza Sedan carrying the men, and it was razed down.
“Two innocent passers-by were injured and taken to hospital. The Command sues for calm to allow for investigations into the incident.
“Meanwhile, joint security forces have been deployed to ensure Nnewi is calm throughout the burial ceremonies of the late Senator” .
