The Federal Government has claimed that the sponsors of the #EndBadGovernance protest were attempting to unlawfully alter the country’s leadership. Alake alleged that the organizers aimed to undermine the nation’s democracy, but their plans were thwarted by the Nigerian populace.
He argued that the demonstration, which was framed as a protest against hardship and suffering, was actually a deliberate effort to forcibly change the government.
In his statement, Alake said, “This was not just a protest, but a movement intended to force a change in regime, which was successfully resisted.”
He further expressed gratitude to Nigerians for rejecting any unconstitutional attempts to change the government, emphasizing that if people are dissatisfied with the current administration, the appropriate channel for change is through the electoral process.
Alake also mentioned that the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, provided the council with an update on the country’s security situation, assuring that security measures are robust and that no one will be allowed to disrupt the nation’s democracy.
He stressed that any change in government must occur through the ballot box, not through violence or unconstitutional means, and that security agencies are fully prepared to safeguard the country’s democratic integrity
