Following a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday, October 23, Tinubu removed five ministers from his cabinet.
During an interview on Talking Politics on AIT, Okoye expressed that less than 70 percent of the ministers appointed by President Tinubu are performing effectively. While he acknowledged that some ministers, like Senator David Umahi (Works), Nyesom Wike (FCT), and Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo (Interior), are excelling, he pointed out that others are underperforming.
He specifically mentioned the ministers of youth and women affairs, stating that they are not contributing positively and should be replaced. He criticized the minister of finance for implementing policies that have negatively impacted the administration.
Okoye emphasized, “Out of the 48 members of Tinubu’s government, I can tell you as an APC member and as an insider that not up to 70 percent of them are performing. The minister of youths, for instance, is virtually unknown, and the minister of women affairs is also not meeting expectations.”
Following the cabinet reshuffle, at least 31 ministers were retained, allowing them to continue their projects across the country. Notably, Wike, Edun, and 29 others were not affected by the recent changes.
