Nwosu who spoke in a statement released yesterday in Awka , condemned the act and decried the rising level of insecurity in the state.
Describing the incident as “sad and troubling” he called for a holistic investigation into the incident and charged government to be proactive in the defence and protection of the citizenry.
He said: “I received with deep sadness, the news of the gory killing of several people in the Nibo community in Awka South Local Government Area, yesterday, Sunday, 20th October, 2024”.
“As the true story of the gruesome shooting unfolds, my thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased and injured.”
“This extremely sad and troubling incident, underpins the rising level of insecurity in our State. It is simply scary and unacceptable. Citizens expect Goverment to protect them and for those involved in such a nefarious act to be apprehended and brought to justice immediately.”
“The government cannot be allowed to be derelict in its responsibility to protect innocent and defenseless citizens. We envisage an expeditious and full investigation of this heinous act with a view to bringing the perpetrators to book.” Nwosu stated.
