According to the Ondo State-owned newspaper, the student fainted last Tuesday shortly after making disturbing remarks about wanting to die. Eyewitnesses said she was playing with her classmates when she started expressing feelings of impending death.

The young girl reportedly told her friends that she had advised her mother to have more children, but her request was not heeded. Moments later, she collapsed, and first aid was administered at the school clinic before she was rushed to the University Medical Teaching Hospital (UNIMETH) in Akure, where she was declared dead upon arrival.

A teacher at the school shared with the publication that it appeared the girl had somehow foreseen her fate, based on her statements prior to the incident. “Last Tuesday, while classes were in session, we were informed that a JSS 3 student had collapsed. We quickly responded,” the teacher explained.

The teacher described how the girl had been playing outside before the Mathematics class. When the bell rang, the students rushed inside, but the girl placed her head on the desk. Her concerned classmates tried to wake her, but she eventually lifted her head and said she felt like she was going to die. This statement alarmed them, and they notified the teacher, who immediately went to her.

The girl reportedly repeated, “I want to die,” and the teacher called for other staff members. She was promptly taken to the school clinic, continuing to say she wanted to die. She was then transferred to UNIMETH, where doctors noted she appeared pale and was suffering from a lack of blood. Despite efforts to administer a blood transfusion, she tragically passed away during the process.

The publication also reported that the girl’s mother revealed to teachers who visited the family that it had taken her years to conceive Boluwatife, and she was their first child. The mother explained that her daughter had been pressuring her to have another child. On the morning of her death, the girl told her father she planned to study abroad for Senior Secondary School and hugged him goodbye, before waving to her mother.

The mother also mentioned having seen a ghostly figure pass by in their house earlier that morning, which she had told her husband about before they prayed together.
