On September 25, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, announced that Tinubu intends to make changes to his cabinet, although no specific timeline was provided.
In an appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Today programme, Galadima expressed skepticism about the reshuffle’s effectiveness, asserting that it does not address the pressing issues facing Nigerians.
He emphasized that the initiative would not alleviate the difficult living conditions many are experiencing.
Galadima further suggested that the president’s aim in reshuffling the cabinet is to reward his associates, stating that Tinubu should be accountable for the performance of his ministers.
He urged the president to address the ongoing foreign exchange crisis, which he described as causing the naira to perform poorly.
Galadima remarked, “That (planned cabinet reshuffle) has nothing to do with me or any Nigerian. What is of importance to all of us is bringing down the harsh conditions of living and the buck stops only on the table of one man. That is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
He added, “No amount of reshuffling can make a difference. As far as that team is only a ‘job for the boys,’ nothing will come out of it.”
Galadima concluded, “Anybody that calls himself president or governor is responsible for their cabinet’s performance. He should be told that some of his appointees are more interested in their pockets than service delivery. I expected him to do better than this and to hit the ground running.”
